Where do you live now?
I grew up in Wauconda, IL and I am currently based there now.
What are your favorite things to do outside of leafleting?
I enjoy riding my bike, playing and coaching softball. Pretty much anything that keeps me active and outdoors.
How long have you been involved in animal rights and how did you get interested?
It started in 2008, when I stumbled upon an AR group tabling on campus in college. I’d been vegan for a while and was looking for a way to do more for the animals. They had me jump in and help that day, and I’ve never looked back!
What made you decide to start leafleting? / Why do you leaflet?
After joining the AR club at school, our first outreach event was leafleting. It was amazing to be able to reach so many people so quickly! It really seemed like the most effective activism I could participate in, and that’s why I continue to leaflet.
What was your most positive leafleting experience?
Any time I’m out leafleting and I hear someone tell me they went veg because of receiving a booklet is a memorable experience for me. It’s a reminder that our work is important and effective!
What would you say to individuals hesitant about leafleting?
It’s totally normal to be hesitant! I never thought I would be able to go to public places and approach people I didn’t know. However, once you get started and get a few out, you will see people are generally nice and happy to take your info. It’s also very rewarding work – there’s nothing like the feeling after a great day of leafleting!
