Sample Language for Your Will or Trust

The following language may help you and your attorney as you consider a gift that will meet your financial, family, and personal goals. Feel free to use this when creating or adding to your existing will or trust.

Sample #1 Percentage Bequest

“I give, devise, and bequeath to Vegan Outreach (tax identification number 86-0736818), a federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable corporation incorporated in Delaware on August 29, 1996, now maintaining its headquarters in CA at 3053 Freeport Blvd. #282, Sacramento, CA, 95818, _______% of the rest and residue of my estate.”

Sample #2 Residuary Bequest

“I give, devise, and bequeath to Vegan Outreach (tax identification number 86-0736818), a federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable corporation incorporated in Delaware on August 29, 1996, now maintaining its headquarters in California at 3053 Freeport Blvd. #282, Sacramento, CA, 95818, the rest and residue of my estate.”

Sample #3 Bequest for a Specific Amount

“I give and bequeath to Vegan Outreach (tax identification number 86-0736818), a federally tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable corporation incorporated in Delaware on August 29, 1996, now maintaining its headquarters in California at 3053 Freeport Blvd. #282, Sacramento, CA, 95818, the sum of $________________.”

Sample #4 Contingent Bequest

“In the event that (name or names; i.e., spouse, children, sibling, heirs) shall not survive me, or shall die during the administration of my estate, within _____ days from the date of my death, or as a result of a common disaster, then I give, devise and bequeath those beneficiaries’ shares of my estate to Vegan Outreach (tax identification number 86-0736818), a federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable corporation incorporated in Delaware on August 29, 1996, now maintaining its headquarters in California at 3053 Freeport Blvd. #282, Sacramento, CA, 95818.”
